Red Headed Stranger is the eighteenth studio album by American outlaw country singer Willie Nelson, released in 1975. After the success of his recordings with Atlantic Records and thanks to the efforts of his manager, Neil Reshen, Nelson signed with Columbia Records, which granted him complete creative freedom. The album’s concept was inspired by "The Tale of the Red Headed Stranger," a song Nelson used to play during his days as a disc jockey in Fort Worth, Texas.
The album presents a sometimes disorienting journey with recurring tags and fragments, as familiar phrases weave in and out of the song sequence. Where does one idea end, and the other begin?
