Rare Spitalfields silk stole, circa 1790, crafted from large royal blue silk and richly woven with floral motifs in vibrant shades of green, pink, red, lilac, white, and yellow. The deep end borders feature elegant flower sprays, while the entire perimeter is framed by a cornucopia border containing poppy seedheads, predominantly in green and yellow, finished with a double yellow line outer edge.
The short ends are fringed, and the stole shows only a few faint marks, remaining in very good condition for its age.
Dimensions: approx. 74 x 266 cm (29 x 104.5 inches)
This is a rare example of late 18th-century Spitalfields silk weaving, ideal for collectors of historic textiles, Georgian fashion accessories, or museum-quality English silk.
