Description:
Trumpet virtuoso Schaeffer! Playing the masterpieces of the Baroque period! Dresden trumpet virtuoso Joachim (Carl) Schaeffer has founded and led numerous ensembles, including the "Trumpet Ensemble Joachim Schaeffer". This new album, whose title is a reference to Luther's words, "Music is the greatest consolation," couples concertos from the Baroque period by Telemann, Albinoni, and Vivaldi with Bach's choral works. The Romantic organ, built by Christian Friedrich Goettel in 1867 and standing in the church in Grünrichtenberg where the recording was made, is not only beautiful but also an instrument of great historical value, with a concert pitch of a=432 Hz and a Romantic tuning. Schaeffer favors this low tuning, which was common in the 19th century, and in his opinion, "this tuning is close to the natural state of vibration found in nature and allows the instrument to sound so good that it gives a pleasant sensation to the audience's ears." He goes on to say.In this album, Schaeffer's glorious trumpet tones and the beautiful harmonies of the historical organ take us into the wonderful world of music that audiences of the time would have heard.
