Chenin Blanc hails from the Loire Valley and grows very well in Paso Robles. Not only is the climate similar, but Paso possesses something that very few regions of the new world (not Europe) has: limestone. This minerality really comes through in the wine.

The wine is rich in tropical fruit flavors, while also showing fresh citrus and green vegetal hints. A medium bodied wine, light gold in color, with wet cement, apple blossoms, lemon peel, and pear on the nose. The acidity is bright, showcasing notes of lemon, pear, and apple on the palate.

Lone Madrone practices minimal winemaker intervention, which means only native yeasts are used, and minimal sulfur is added. This creates a very clean wine that is ready to go and be drunk on your first hot day of the season!

About the Winery

Lone Madrone was founded in 1996 with the goal of producing distinctive wines from vineyards in the rugged limestone hills of Paso Robles. Growing slowly yet steadily since, the focus is largely on vineyards that are dry-farmed and head-trained, which winemaker Neil Collins believes to be “the purest expression of the unparalleled terroir of west Paso Robles.” Neil also feels that when you begin with grapes from vineyards of this quality, in these outrageous soils, it only makes sense to “let them sing for themselves without being masked by our hands.” To this end, all the wines are fermented with native yeasts and aged in predominantly neutral oak barrels.
