"Dance" - Kathryn Freeman

Kathryn Freeman is an artist and storyteller who combines classical composition with magic realism.

Freeman’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries in Europe and across the United States. Her paintings are in numerous private and public collections. Freeman has written and illustrated books. She also accepts commissions for narrative portraits, a type of portraiture inspired by Renaissance portraits that tell the story of a person’s life. She is also a drawing coach and a passionate gardener.

Artist Statement

"My fascination with storytelling and treading the delicate balance between reality and dream is the catalyst for my work.

I love fairy tales and mythology, and explore the wonder behind everyday existence and the symbolism of ordinary things.

As I compose a painting I try to create harmonious order out of the confusion and randomness of modern life, order in which form and content merge to create a convincing world and a believable narrative.

My greatest intention, and reason for painting, is to express something both meaningful and truthful about the human spirit."
