Some collaborations are good.
This one is downright dangerous.
Whisky In Isolation and Amber Lane Distillery return with their second collaboration release: Twice The Temptation - a whisky born from bold ideas, exceptional casks, and the refusal to play it safe.
This release began with something already special: our original collaboration, Garden Of Temptation (see reviews). A richly layered whisky matured in sherry casks before receiving a powerful finish in an ex-Tempranillo wine cask from acclaimed Hunter Valley producer Vinden Wines.
But instead of bottling every drop… we held some back.
What followed was an experiment driven by curiosity, patience, and trust in the process. The remaining whisky was married with spirit of a similar age inside a carefully selected 200L ex-Heaven Hill Bourbon cask that we deliberately chose not to re-char. Then we waited.
For almost two more years.
The result is a whisky that feels deeper, darker and even more seductive than the original release, where decadent sherry richness, dark berries, soft oak, spice and bourbon influence come together in remarkable balance.
This whisky captures everything we love about working with Amber Lane Distillery. Bold flavour. Creative risk-taking. And an uncompromising obsession with producing memorable whisky.
Amber Lane has quickly established itself as one of Australia’s most awarded distilleries, earning major accolades including Champion Whisky of Show and Best Spirit of Show at the Royal Australian Spirits Awards, alongside multiple international gold medals. Working alongside Rod Berry and Head Distiller Phil Townsend once again has been an absolute pleasure - because whenever we get together, interesting things tend to happen.

Distillery Tasting Notes
Nose: Jammy, floral, strawberry cream
Palate: Brings together all the best features of the sherry, red wine and bourbon casks. Red berry notes from the red wine casks, coupled with rancio notes from the sherry and then honey sweetness from the bourbon. And somehow in all that you get Cherry Cola.
Finish: Long, warming, sweet & floral.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: An indulgent and layered nose that opens with peach yoghurt, ripe stone fruit and red berries before moving into soft leather, dark honey and polished oak. Underneath sits a subtle earthy richness reminiscent of old wine cellars, dried figs and cocoa dust, with the bourbon cask influence bringing gentle vanilla warmth and roundness.
Palate: Rich, textural and wonderfully balanced between sweet and savoury. Waves of dark fruits, gooey honey and stewed berries are met with more unexpected umami notes — think charred red capsicum tart, walnut oil and savoury pastry warmth. Dark chocolate bitterness weaves through the mid-palate, adding depth and structure against the sweeter fruit-driven notes. The sherry and Tempranillo influence bring richness and intensity, while the Heaven Hill bourbon cask softens and ties everything together with caramelised oak, spice and a luxurious mouthfeel.
Finish: Long, warming and mouth-coating. Sticky lips, lingering dark fruit sweetness and soft oak spice slowly build into a sweet chilli heat that gently reminds you of the whisky’s 57% ABV. Dark chocolate, savoury spice and honeyed richness linger beautifully, with the warming bourbon character refusing to let go.
