The reason is that both Lyme and mold contribute to creating dysbiosis in the gut. They are also immunosuppressive and allow gut infections and parasites to rage out of control.

What may start with just mold exposure at home, work, or school can inhibit your immune system's ability to function correctly. When someone has mold toxicity, it makes them very susceptible to Lyme, given the exposure.
