About the product: Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Day’s Defile in Shelley, Idaho. Named for famous trapper John Day and the narrow gorges that scour Idaho's towering mountains, Day’s Defile makes whiskies that reflect the climate and natural resources of the northern Rockies.
This 10-year-old straight bourbon whiskey is the oldest whiskey ever released from the state of Idaho. It was made from 76% corn, 11% triticale, and 13% malted barley. Distilled at a now-closed Idaho distillery, it was acquired by Day’s Defile, who continued to age it for many more years. The nose bursts with French vanilla, black cherry, and intense oak notes. The palate is extremely powerful, with big notes of clove and nutmeg and incredibly rich oak spice. An intense bourbon that truly showcases the depth of flavor that can come from aging in the high and dry climate of the West.
