A Cadre Noir Curb Bit - Bit640This old steel bit has straight cheeks (I think the 1845 model). They have an oval opening at the top for the headpiece, small round holes for the curb hooks, loops for the lip strap and curb rein loops. Each cheek has a brass boss or badge with the head of Medusa. There is a gentle upward curve in the centre of the mouthpiece. There are no stamps on the bit but there is a previous collector's label which reads "M20". Dimensions : mouthpiece 11. 8cm
