I just can't get over how contemporary a super spare full body antique tintype portrait like this one feels--and how completely present the subject thereby seems, as if one could oneself walk straight into the frame and touch him. Even better to find that starkness in an occupational photo, here with this painter’s profession distilled down to a drippy paint can and brush in hand. And with a clear line of white paint stain running straight across  the front of his man's pants. One of my favorites ever, just beautiful on all levels.

2 1/4" x 3 1/2" and in very good antique condition, super crisp and clear and rich.
