Have this orange coloured Douglas DC-3 flying over the snowy Dutch landscape on your wall. It was operated by the KLM with call sign PH-ASP. It is shown here above the Kinderdijk, The Netherlands during the winter of 1939-1940.
In September 1939 a KLM DC-3 ‘Mees’ (the PH-ASM) en route from Copenhagen to Schiphol came under fire by a German patrol. Captain Jan Moll managed to get away by flying through the clouds and landed at Schiphol. Unfortunately, one passenger was killed. The KLM decided to paint the fleet in bright orange with HOLLAND written on it.
